Uchopit totalitní ideologie nacionálního socialismu a komunismu jako politická náboženství se těsně před druhou světovou válkou pokusili nezávisle na sobě Raymond Aron a Eric Voegelin. Vycházeje z těchto konceptů, bude cílem přednášky popsat dějiny obou totalitarismů z hlediska proměny etických hodnot a jejich konečného záměru vybudovat dokonalý společenský řád na zemi a nastolit svět "nového člověka".
