Course objectives
The aim of the selection of the seminar is to acquaint students with basic problems of spiritual manifestations in prehistoric times. Students will become familiar with the areas of spiritual manifestations in prehistoric times, both in relation to religion, as well as to other areas such manifestations (rituals, symbolism, philosophy, art in relation to the spiritual manifestations). Also, become familiar with different theoretical evolutionary models of religious systems in different periods of ancient history. On this basis we will then be further developed individual work with students and within individual prehistory - Paleolithic starting and ending time of migration of peoples.
Syllabus
  • 1. Selected chapters from the history of Czech and European archaeological study of religions; Basic characteristics of religion: Paleolithic and Mesolithic; Neolithic; eneolitu; Early Bronze Age; Middle Bronze Age; Late Bronze Age; Iron Age; old Celts; ancient Germans.
    2. Cults and Religions of the Roman Empire and their close relationship with Central Europe.
    3. Problems burial rite in relation to religion.
    4. Cult fourth place in the older prehistory (Palaeolithic to the late Iron Age).
    5. Cult fifth place in the younger prehistory (Latente to conclude Migration). Priests and cult leaders in an older prehistory (Palaeolithic to the late Iron Age).
    6. Priests and leaders of the cult of the younger prehistory (Latente to conclude Migration). Zoomorphic decor and sculpture in the primordial religion.
    7. Anthropomorphic seventh decor and sculpture in the primordial religion.
    8. Decorative motif nezoomorfního and neantropomorfního character and their relationship to religion.
    9. Cult objects and tools in prehistory.
    10. Sun symbolism and its derivatives (solar barque, the sun disk, etc.) In the primordial religion
