Prerequisites
Student must successfully pass the course M0014(M1030) - Introduction into Museum Conservation or UHV/M1030 Museum Conservation and Restoration I.
Successful completion of the final test and the preparation and presentation of the essay.
Student must submit current medical certificate of his medical fitness for work in the laboratory of conservation center, where he works and manipulates with chemicals (acids, bases, volatile substances etc.)and uses chemical-physical instruments.

Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with comprehensive issues of conservation and restoration of cultural heritage objects from iron and non-ferrous metals. Students can verify their theoretical knowledge in seminar exercises in the Centre of restoration and conservation UHV. Attention will be paid to the objects of iron, copper, tin, lead, zinc, silver, gold and aluminium. Students will try out possibilities survey artefact, preventive conservation, remedial conservation, restoration and documentation. The thesis also mentions the area of ??occupational safety and familiarization with the potential risks for staff and collections. The main task of the seminar will be writing a seminar paper - namely, developing a concept complex intervention on a given subject in a simple metal. Each student will have to carry out survey, proposal intervention, conservation, storing and documentation. Listeners must continuously during the semester also process subtasks that they will be entered in the laboratory exercises. Above the results of seminar papers will be shared discussion moderated by the teacher.

    3. The principles of conservation and restoration of iron objects - removing the corrosion layer.
    4. Property damage and principles of conservation and restoration of objects of copper alloy - stabilization of the corrosion layer.
    5. The principles of conservation and restoration of objects of copper alloy - the removal of the corrosion layer.
    6. Property damage and principles of conservation and restoration of silver.
    7. Property damage and principles of conservation and restoration of lead.
    8. Property damage and principles of conservation and restoration of tin.
    9. Property damage and principles of conservation and restoration of zinc.
    10. Property damage and principles of conservation and restoration of gold.
    11. Property damage and principles of conservation and restoration of aluminum and other light metals.
