Course objectives
The goal of the course is to become familiar with the work of master sound in the studio, Students will learn how to sound the public space Students will be familiar with the physical nature of some seemingly obvious phenomena associated with the resulting sound concerts and recordings. Students will be deeply familiar with the sound characteristics of different musical instruments, the human voice and techniques of recording.
Syllabus
  • * Sound and audio recording. Properties of sound, acoustics, analog and digital recording
    * Audio technology and special effects equipment. Preamplifiers, power amplifiers, tubes vs. semiconductors, effects and processors, correction terms, speakers, Dolby.
    * Sensing and recording devices. Microphones and their characteristics, the sensor tools, features recording and reproduction systems.
    * Recording studio. Studio environment, its structure and technical equipment.
    * Preparing the recording. Sounding musical instruments in the study, the use of sound effects.
    * MIDI interface. Synthesizers, sequencers, integration with other tools.
    * Practical recording. Working with software and hardware.
