Course objectives
The aim of this lecture is to acquaint the students with the basic principles of managing the archaeological research; not only the field work itself, but also its consequent implementation of a report about the findings. Focus is also on the theoretical evaluation of the founding situation in a form of partial or complex academic outputs. The introductory part first presents the archaeology as a science, and then the history of the archaeology and its methodology is also presented. An integral part of the course is to familiarize the students with a valid "archaeological" legislation in relation to a rescue and investigative fieldworks. This is followed by a presentation of the types of the terrain archaeological works, from the non-destructive methods up to the particular management of the investigative or a rescue archaeological research. The emphasis of this lecture will be on the theoretical introduction to the method of the archaeological research, the contextual archaeology, measurements within the archaeological research and consequent implementation of the results in a form of a final report. The natural-scientific analysis within the archaeological research will be also taken into account.
