Basic orientation in the history of the early modern period in the Czech lands, knowledge of basic concepts from the history of art, material culture and the history of everyday life.

Course objectives
The lecture cycle follows the first part of the block and focuses on basic material artifacts from the everyday area life, as well as phenomena associated with, for example, crafts, manufacturing, industrialization, the lifestyle of the aristocracy, nobility and burghers. Part of this is the embedding of material sources in cultural, civilizational and thought currents and movements (from the Enlightenment to industrial and liberal society), in a broad historical context from the early modern period to after the end of the 19th century. Emphasis will be placed on those material artifacts that the listener may most often encounter in collections of memory and museum institutions.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to: - use basic concepts from the history of art, material culture and the history of everyday life. - identify and describe specific aspects of everyday life and material culture of the aristocracy in the early modern period. - describe the period historical and cultural-historical context of the origin of individual monuments and their role in contemporary society.

Aspects of everyday life and material culture of the aristocracy in the early modern period I .: aristocratic residences 3. Aspects of everyday life and material culture of the aristocracy in the early modern period II .: internal disposition and equipment of aristocratic settlements 4. Aspects of everyday life and material culture of the aristocracy in the early modern period III .: interior decoration and furniture of aristocratic settlements 5. Aspects of everyday life and material culture of the aristocracy in the early modern period IV .: art chambers, cabinets of curiosities, portrait galleries; collecting and patronage activities of the nobility 6. Aspects of everyday life and material culture of the aristocracy in the early modern period V .: Renaissance and Baroque residences, gardens and summer houses 7. Aspects of everyday life and material culture connected with churches and religious life in the early modern period I .: Catholic Baroque temples, churches and chapels in cities and in the countryside 8. Aspects of everyday life and material culture connected with churches and religious life in the early modern period II .: lorets, places of pilgrimage, Marian, Trinity columns, Calvary, Stations of the Cross, obeisances, religious fraternities and other new forms of Catholic piety 9. Aspects of everyday life and material culture connected with churches and religious life in the early modern period III .: interiors, equipment and furniture of baroque churches and churches 10. Aspects of everyday life and material culture of cities in the early modern period I .: urbanism, building development, visual appearance of cities 11. Aspects of everyday life and material culture of cities in the early modern period II .: burgher house, equipment of a burgher house 12. Aspects of everyday life and material culture of cities in the early modern period II .: crafts and guilds, guild representations 13. Aspects of everyday life and material culture in the countryside in the early modern period: construction development of a village homestead and a village house, basic furniture of a rural room.
