- Course objectives
- The seminar accompanies the lecture course Modern history of Silesia. While interpreting text sources, the students will learn about the Silesian identity, its territory, administration, ethnical and confessional structure. The focus is on Silesian specifics (compared to Bohemia and Moravia). Different nationalist intepretations of the history of Silesia will be analyzed.

3. Enlightenment in Silesia
4. The language and national problem in Silesia
5. Silesia in collective memory
6. Opava as the centre of Austrian Silesia
7. Silesia?s relation to the centre of the monarchy / republic
8. Modernization in / of Silesia
9. Commented tour of the exposition Silesia in the Silesian provincial museum
10. Commented tour of the up-to-date exhibition Silesia in the Silesian provincial museum
11. Commented tour of the exposition History of Opava in the Municipal house
