Course objectives
The course introduces the specifics of literary genres. The course reviews different texts of different genres and analyzes and discusses their characteristics. The focus lies on genres of epic / prose (such as fable, anecdote and others), which helps to concentrate on the specifics of literary texts in general,such as the question of realism and deeper meaning of text.

    3. Analysis of the fable (Lessing)
    4. Composition and writing of a fable
    5. Analysis of the anecdote (Hebel and Kleist)
    6. Composition and writing of an anecdote
    7. Discussion: fable and anecdote
    8. Analysis of a novel (Droste-Hülshoff)
    9. Analysis of a narrative text 1 (Fontane)
    10. Analysis of a narrative text 2 (Fontane)
    11. Discussion: novel and romance
