Course objectives
The aim of the course is to make the students acquainted with the basics of the using FPGA, language VHDL and small computers systems.
Syllabus
  • 1. The control structure of robots, their classification, specifications and basic features. Fundamental approaches to the design of control structures, robots and analysis. Non adaptive and adaptive control algorithms and their implementation and testing.
    2. Scanning environment variables, control of active elements of the robot. Implementation of interface between the sensors, control system and control of the robot.
    3. Control structures in multiprocessor systems based on standard of interpretation and compilation of programming languages.
    4. Control structures based on FPGA and digital signal processors using FPGA. The direct implementation of control algorithms using language VHDL or VERILOG.
    5. Practical introduction to the development environment for programming, testing and analysis for the realization of autonomous systems.

Teacher's information
To obtain the credit, students must hand in a semester project. The semester project consists of a program created by students on a theme obtained after a consultation with the lecturer, by the midway through the teaching period. The program must be a functional unit which will be error free and will perform on the theme. The exam consists of a consultation on the semester project. The evaluation of the project will focus on the overall completion, namely: the reliability of the created program, used algorithm, student's personal contribution towards the work on the theme, possibilities of further development of the program and also students' understanding of the issues and the acquired knowledge during the course.
