Course objectives
In course of lectures, an overview and comparison of Polish and Czech terminology on flintknapping will be presented referring on full chronological range: i.e. from flintknapping of the Lower Palaeolithic up to its final stages in the Bronze Age and Hallstatt period. Production technology, artefact typology and functions and economical and social aspects referring to this field of human activity will be discussed. The latter is understood as issues on recognition and exploitation (including mining), distribution and exchange system of selected lithic materials. The most crucial notions (morphological and typological for example) will be also presented in English and German. Works on preparing practical, professional Polish-Czech and Czech-Polish dictionary well be developed as well. Such a dictionary would fill a gap, which would help researchers and students from both countries to improve a free discussion on the subject.
