Course objectives
The aim of the course is to improve and develop the knowledge of the grammatical, lexical and syntactic system of the language in combination with the practice of the four basic language skills – reading, listening, oral and written presentation, and especially widening of vocabulary, including special vocabulary. The acquired skills will be further developed so that students are able to communicate in basic communicative situations and to understand professional texts.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction to the course, literature and information sources, requirements for completion.
  • 2. Verbs with inseparable prefixes.
  • 3. Verbs with separable prefixes.
  • 4. Reflexive verbs, their conjugation in the present tense.
  • 5. Tense.
  • 6. Comparatives and superlatives of adjectives and adverbs.
  • 7. Geographical names.
  • 8. Coordinating conjunctions. Conjunctionless sentences.
  • 9. Preterite of regular and irregular verbs.
  • 10. Pronouns. Negation nichts, niemand, nie(mals).
  • 11. Perfektum of regular and irregular verbs.
  • 12. General subject man and es. Use of allein and selbst.
  • 13. Summary and revision.
