Course objectives
This course introduces the possibility of access to a literary work, including social and cultural conditions of production and reception. Discipline gives a basic orientation in the areas of sociological research of literary life, introduces students to the concepts of literary culture, the literary field, habitus, social role of the author, and types of reading development, reading etc. It does not neglect relations between literature, media and mass culture (from the perspective of the so-called Frankfurt School). He is also a modern upgrades social nature of Anglo-American literature in the perspectives of the new historicism and cultural materialism.

    4. Division sociological literature (the term kitsch).
    5. Functions of the author.
    6. Corporate social role of the writer and personality types.
    7. Culture of readers and its social and cultural patterns.
    8. Reading, its development and types.
    9. Books, the book market.
    10. Sociology of reading and libraries (methods of sociological research).
    11. Literary types in czech literature.
    12. Example "sociological" reading (Hrabal: Obsluhoval jsem anglického krále).
