Course objectives
The course is aimed at acquainting students with the issue of art historical collections in the collections of museums. The seminar will enable students to cope with the requirements that are placed on museum professionals in the professional processing of collection items in the field of art history and art industry. Teaching is conducted mainly on the methodology of professional processing of collection items in the field of painting, carving, sculpture, ceramics and porcelain so that the seminar provides students with a basic amount of knowledge and skills needed to determine the provenance and dating of ceramics and porcelain products. works, including their dating, determination of technique, stylistic classification, in the case of works of older art, ie from the Middle Ages to art from the early 20th century.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to: - describe the issue of art historical collections in the collections of museums - identify and professionally describe collection items from the field of painting, carving, sculpture, ceramics and porcelain - determine the provenance and dating of art objects

  • 1. Introduction to the problems of arts and crafts, terracotta, pottery, ceramics. 2. Faience and majolica, barber faience, Haban, Proskov and border faience. 3. Porcelain - introduction to the issue, pre-stage porcelain, Sévres, Meissen, Vienna. 4. Selected types of porcelain in German countries, Rosenthal, Ansbach, etc. 5. Selected types of porcelain from the Czech lands. 6. Painting in the history of art - basic concepts and stylistic development in the Middle Ages (Romanesque and Gothic art) with selected examples. 7. Sculpture in the history of art - basic concepts and stylistic development in the Middle Ages (Romanesque and Gothic art) with selected examples. 8. Painting in the history of art - basic concepts and stylistic development in the early modern period (Renaissance, Mannerism, Baroque, Rococo) with selected examples. 9. Sculpture in the history of art - basic concepts and stylistic development in the early modern period (Renaissance, Mannerism, Baroque, Rococo) with selected examples. 10. Painting in the history of art - basic concepts and stylistic development in the 19th century (classicism, Biedermeier, romanticism, realism, impressionism, etc.) with selected examples. 11.
