- Course objectives
- Student will acquire a basic orientation in the field of film and television documentary production, including a basic historical overview and types of contemporary AV works in the given field. At the same time, he gets acquainted with the basics of the practical creation of an AV work and carries out basic practical exercises. Creates an AV work of a smaller scale by himself or participates in the creation of an annual AV work together with other colleagues in a designated professional role.
- Learning outcomes
- Student will be able to - identify and summarize the basic periods in the history of documentary film and television production - create a simple scenario of an AV documentary - to navigate the division of professions within the film documentary crew - orient yourself in the sources of music and movements used in the creation of AV works - orient yourself in the basics of copyright with regard to documentary production
- Syllabus
- The development of documentary production • The relationship between the document and the historical context • Basic methodologies and expressive means of documentary film • AV image of reality as a new specific form of message and communication • Basic creative documentary methods (reconstruction, reportage) • Background, research and general preparation for the creation of a documentary AV work • Genre spectrum of documentary AV works (portrait, self-portrait, diary, survey, column, reportage, sports film) • Samples from films, means of expression of world and Czech documentarians. • Management of each student´s own documentary work project.
- Teaching methods
- Lessons combines the frontal teaching method together for all students and with the same content with practical exercises including analysis of submitted works: lecture, exercise, seminar, consultation

- Homework (extracurricular) is required in class The student is evaluated 20% based on the results of a written knowledge test and 80% based on the quality of an independent AV work or participation in a team project The student publicly defends his work 80% attendance at school is required
