Course objectives
The subject acquaints students with physical process taking place in close vicinity of black holes.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will understand the formulation and solution of physical problems in curved spacetime. He/she will solve these formulated problems independently.
Syllabus
  • Basic topics of the subject:
    • Basics of general theory of relativity: metric, afinne connection, Riemann curvature tensor , Kretschmann scalar
    • Tetrade formalis
    • Black Hole spacetimes, event horizon, physical singularity
    • Deflection of light rays in the field of black holes, black hole shadow
    • Test particle motion, effective potential, constants of motion and Killing vectors
    • Skalar test field, quasinormal modes of scalar test fields
    • Penrose process, Blandford -Znajek proces, ultrarelativistic collisions of test particles I the field of black holes
    • Charged particles motion in the field of magnetized black hole
    • Regular and stochastic motion
    • Motion of charged string in magnetized black hole
    • Quantum effects on the black hole background: Klein-Gordon scalar field, creation and anihilation operators
    • Particle creation in vicinity of black holes (Hawking radiation), tblack hole thermodynamics
