- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to provide the students with historical basements of social work in Czech lands and abroad which have become the part of state social policy in modern history. For the purposes of understanding this discipline, whose practical activity reveals, explains, moderates and solves social problems, the students will be introduced the primary theories and methods of social work in historical context but also with historical genesis of this issue.

- 1. Historical conditions of social policy. Introduction to issue and question of religion and social solidarity
2. World religions and sources of their social solidarity
3. Philosophical topics important for social work from ancient times till the beginning of the 19th century
4. From German classical philosophy to current liberalism and communitarism
5. Journey of western world from ancient forms of social work till the beginning of social security and constitution of social work
6. Influence of scientific disciplines in inter-war period on social work
7. Czech lands and tradition of social work from 1945
8. Social work in our state from World War II till 1989
9. Fundamental transformations in the system of social work after 1989
10. Current problems of social work in present day and perspectives

- The seminars will be lead on the principle of independent work of students, will complement the lectures and will become the way out for discussions regarding individual problems based on self-study of recommended literature. Written test focused on verification of theoretical knowledge as well as actual problems of the branch.
