Course objectives
The aim of the course is to make students familiar with the performance of social services, verify their theoretical knowledge and provide them with practical experience in the sphere of social policy and social work. The professional internship will take place at providers of social services locally registered at the relevant regional authorities according to the Act no. 108/2006 Coll., on social services. In course of the internship, students will adopt basic methodological procedures and ways to work with the users of social services. In course of the practical training, they will apply the theoretical knowledge in the subjects contained in the particular blocks of Social policy and social work, and test the basic methods and techniques of social work. The internship will allow students to confront their ideas about the nature of social work with the reality in the Czech Republic (or abroad) and to learn the content of ethical social standards and standards of the quality of social services. The result of the practical performance of the students at the workplace where internship takes place will be a detailed written report, which will be continuously consulted with both the internship supervisor at the workplace, and the instructors of the course. Reflection and self-reflection of the students' experience will be the content of supervising meetings in the Supervision of professional practice I. course. Study Outcomes: Professional Knowledge: Students will acquire extended knowledge of the objectives and tasks of social work and also of the ethical principles of social work and the typology of clients. Professional Skills: Students can navigate in the selected areas of social work and social services, understand the issues in relation to the various theoretical concepts of social work. General Qualification: They understand the knowledge acquired during their lessons and can apply them in further studies and in professional practice. Students build on and develop the knowledge and skills necessary for the performance of the work of a social worker. Student can uphold conversations, carry out diagnosing, plan, administer and implement direct work with the client.
