Course objectives
The course objective is to apply the knowledge students have acquired in courses of economic and legal disciplines in the area of social security in the Czech Republic and the European Union already completed.Theoretical knowledge from lectures is exacerbated by individual consultations which include not only presentations by students but also training to deal with situations of social security using some printed forms and other materials.
Learning outcomes
Professional Knowledge
Students will learn the economic-legal subject matter of the social security system in the Czech Republic and in the EU in the extent of the course subject matter.
Professional Skills
Students will be able to navigate the social security system, understand its economic and legal context and use their expertise in practice, particularly in the areas of health and social insurance, welfare system, unemployment benefits and to the necessary extent, also in the social security system of the European Union .
General Qualification
Students gain knowledge and skills that lead them effectively to sources of further knowledge and skills needed for their application and use in practice (“they will know the where and the how”).The general learning outcomes should be the student's ability to think critically and evaluate social reality with no medial or political deformities.

  • 4. Pillars of the social insurance system: social security, health insurance and public pension plan.

  • 7. State social welfare.
  • 8. Welfare for people with disabilities
  • 9. Allowance for care and assistance in material need.
  • 10. Unemployment benefits.
  • 11. Social security system in the EU

Submission and defence of a term paper on a selected topic, half-time written test (successful completion at 60% or more correct answers), written exam.
