Course objectives
The course is conceived as a theoretical-practical whole and builds on the knowledge of general and social psychology. The course provides the acquisition of knowledge and skills in communication and demonstrates the basics of professional communication in the profession of midwifery. The goal is to characterize the specifics of communication and control methods for effective communication.
Learning outcomes
Professional Knowledge: Students know the theoretical basis of communication and communication strategy
Professional Skills: Students analyze the importance of communication, implement alternative forms of communication, apply the principles of communication with clients with various disabilities, appropriately recommend communication technologies, apply communication technologies in practice.
General Qualification: Students describe the importance of communication, enumerating the principles of communication
Competences: Students know principles of effective communication in midwifery

  • Lectures
  • 1. Introduction to communication and to the issues of communication technology.
  • 2. Communication techniques.
  • 3. Principles of communication in obstetrics and gynecology with regard to age, diagnosis and choice of communication techniques.
  • 4. Communication aids in communicating with afflicted individuals capable of speech.
  • 5. Principles of communication with clients with various disabilities.
  • 6. Communication with hearing-impaired individuals. Aids for communication with people with hearing problems.
  • 7. Communication with visually impaired individuals. Aids for communication with visually handicapped people.
  • 8. Communication with mentally challenged individuals. Communication with mentally ill individuals.
  • 9. Communication with physically disabled individuals.
  • 10. Summary of the principles of effective communication.

  • - Communication with women according to age groups and diagnoses
  • - Communication in outpatient gynecology
  • - Communication with women hospitalized in gynecology wards
