Course objectives
The course aims to familiarize students with the current situation in the area of balneology and spa stays. It provides an overview of the various forms of spa treatments and their functions, focusing on the specific needs of seniors. During the course, students will be introduced to basic (health and medical, accommodation, catering) as well as additional services provided in spas and health resorts, to the division of spas depending on the nature of services and their basic characteristics. The course includes basic knowledge from the field of offer of leisure activities and preparation of educational activities for seniors in the framework of a long-term spa stay. Based on examples of good practice, students will be introduced to the situation in the Czech Republic and abroad.
Learning outcomes
Professional knowledge: Having completed the course, students can define the basic forms of spa stays and their functions. They can specify the needs of seniors within long-term spa stays.

Professional skills: Based on the completion of the course, students will be able to select and evaluate the offer of stays in spa resorts of the Czech Republic. In practice, they can design leisure activities with emphasis on educational goals as part of long-term spa stays of seniors for selected spa facilities.

General qualification: After completing the course, students can analyze problems related to the issues of spa stays for the elderly, to the specifics of accommodation, catering services and leisure activities within the framework of long-term stays in spa resorts.
