- Course objectives
- The course is conceived as a theoretical-practical unit, focusing on the specifics of diseases connected with the oral cavity in all age groups. It primarily pays attention to dental hygiene and prevention for women in pregnancy, to education in preventive care.
- Learning outcomes
- Professional Knowledge: Student have knowledge of the cause and mechanisms of the formation of dental caries and periodontal diseases. They know the methods and means of prevention and prophylaxis. They have knowledge of specific dietary factors in the protection and promotion of dental health.
Professional Skills: Students can rationally use the information obtained in professional communications with women. They can perform professional oral hygiene.
General Qualification: Students are able to motivate women to individual oral hygiene.
Competences: Based on information gathered, they can prepare an individual preventive treatment plan. - Syllabus
- 1. Dentistry prevention, prevention of dental caries, periodontal diseases, World Health Organization and the goals of oral health.
- 2. Risk factors of formation of dental caries. Basic dental examinations, X-rays and photographs.
- 3. Microbial dental plaque formation, development, metabolism, pathogenicity, detection and removal.
- 4. Tartar, composition and development. Care of women’s teeth in pregnancy.
