- Course objectives
- The goal of this course is to make students able to understand the causitive factors of social problems that are addressed or will address the scope of practice and social conditions of their profession. Therefore, the basic sociological insights to the self-oriention in the sociological literature, and the know how to think sociologically will be conveyed to the students in the lectures. Students will understand the basic concepts of this discipline and will be encouraged by the interest in the sociological perspective on what is happening around them. To provide basic orientation in the sociological description of everyday social phenomena, issues of socialization, social stratification, socialinstitutions, collective behavior, konformity and deviance, the welfare state, multiculturalism, modern media, etc., will be addressed. The background of various historical periods will also focus on the genesis of the main lines of sociological trends and major leaders.

Information on the extent and intensity of the course: Přednáška 8 HOD/SEM. - Teacher's information
- In the individual work, students will be responsible for producing a minimum of 5 pages. The choice of the topic is defined within the established framework of lectures. Each student selects one topic and shall notify the teacher within 14 days by e-mail. The literature from which learners will draw will be a minimum of 3 titles from the list of required reading and 1 title from the list of recommened reading. The basic criterion for assessing the quality of the written work is the demonstration of the ability to work with specialized texts with appropriate emphasis on linking thesis of individual authors into a coherent logical framework. Evaluation and feedback will be provided by the teacher tvia e-mail. Students can use the consultation time (personal or electronic) to discuss problems that come up while working on the written work. Successful completion and approval of project is required to write the exam.
