Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to make the students familiar with the issue of labour market, labour forces, employment and still deepening unemployment, legislative background of employment policy. The course will provide the knowledge of direct and indirect instruments which the labour market is influenced by, of the forms of active and passive employment policy, of the means of prevention of unemployment or its moderation. The attention is paid to genesis of unemployment with focus on so called regional unemployment, it traces the labour market peculiarities (character, segmentation, equilibrium in labour market), next mobility of labour forces. The attention is paid also to issue of graduates and discrimination of foreigners in labour market in selected countries of Central Europe. The study course is interweaved with related migration and family policy as well as with policy of fight against poverty and social exclusion.

  • 1. Introduction to the course: definition of the course´s target and content, introduction of literature and resources, definition of some concepts and relations.
    2. Labour market in economic theories, types of labour market.
    3. Factors influencing labour market equilibrium in central European area.
    4. Unemployment and its forms.
    5. Development of unemployment in selected Central European countries in the context of EU.
    6. Employment policy and labour market policy in selected countries.
    7. Active and passive employment policy.
    8. Service system at the employment section.
    9. Problematical groups of inhabitants in labour market.
    10. Foreigners in labour market in the context of Central European area.
    11. Unemployment as individual and social problem.
    12. Practical implementation examples - application of Employment Act and Labour Code
