- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to provide the students, in three blocks, with development and structure of political discipline, with fundamental disciplines and the most important issues of present politics and with the role of the country and public administration in political processes. The first deals with political science, political philosophy and political ideology as well as issue of democracy and totalitarianism, the next provides brief typological survey of democratic governmental systems, political parties and partial systems, the final part is dedicated to selected issues of political communication, political geography, vertical division of state power and the role of public administration in political processes. Study Outcomes: Professional Knowledge: Students demonstrate knowledge of basic source texts on politics. They demonstrate knowledge of existing research, theoretical points of departure and their application to selected issues. Students can describe and characterize theoretical approaches and they understand their concepts and issues. They can characterize political environment, political agents and their activities. Professional Skills: Students can find and sort relevant information based on defined methodologies, formal and substantive conditions, as well as find new information connected with the field. They can produce a written term paper on an assigned topic concerning sub-topics the course is concerned with. Students demonstrate the ability to independently adopt a critical view of the political environment and they can apply theoretical knowledge to specific political agents. They can identify key events in the political environment and to critically assess their importance. They can put the findings into context and analyse them critically. General Qualification: Students will adopt procedure fulfilling methodical, formal and content criteria for writing scientific papers. Competences: Students learn techniques for writing scientific papers.
