- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to provide the students with socially-pathological phenomena which occur in society, adoption of elementary concepts of social pathology as a scientific discipline dealing with their study in the field of social deviations also recognition and analysis of causes and consequences in general. The subject reflects nowadays current issues in the area of socially-pathological phenomena of children, adolescents as well as adults. The focus is put on prevention of socially pathological behaviour and acting in all its forms. Study Outcomes: Professional Knowledge: Students can navigate the issues of socially pathological phenomena and subsequent prevention, they can define the basic concepts, identify and analyse the causes and the consequences of these phenomena in General. Professional Skills: Students are well informed on relevant literature, they can work with it and obtain the information needed to the expansion of knowledge on the subject. Based on the interpretation and application of the obtained information, they can link the practice with the theoretical foundation.. General Qualification: Students can use their knowledge of the field of social pathology and prevention in practice, while through this course, they develop critical thinking, autonomy, and cooperation.

- OPAVA:
Interpretation of basic concepts - social pathology, social deviation, social norms, anomie, eufunction and dysfunction.
Traditional views on deviant behaviour; types and classification of social deviations; functions of social deviations in society.
Normative and reactive concept of social deviation. Biological, psychological and sociological theories of deviant behaviour - the most important representatives and approaches. The failures of family functions, the typologies of dysfunctional families. Non-alcoholic and alcoholic additions as a social problem. Prevention and treatment. Non-substance addictions. The possibilities of the prevention of risky behaviour related to information technology. Groups with sectarian features. Suicidality. The strategy of prevention of socio-pathological phenomena. - Exam (OPAVA) - written Exam - knowledge of lectures and required reading; Credit test (minimum 75% for E) from designated elementary literature.
Exam (TRUTNOV) -production of a term paper on a selected topic and its subsequent presentation, good knowledge of the discussed topics.
The instructor will notify the students on the topics that have not been fully lectured for them to seek in the compulsory literature or at the e-learning site.
