Course objectives
Students will be familiarized with the development of attitudes towards disabled people, strategic and legislative documents that guarantee equal access. They obtain an overview of the scientific constitution of special education in global and national context, and an overview of the current terminology and information about the relationship between special pedagogy other sciences. Emphasis will be placed on the specifics of education of people with special needs in the physical, psychological or social area in the context of comprehensive development and socialization.

- students can explain how equal opportunities for disabled people are legally guaranteed

- students can explain the reasons for differences in the education of disabled people based on a comparison with the standard
Syllabus
  • 1. Theoretical bases of special education, terminology.
  • 2. Introduction to the issue of changes in the paradigms of special education, special education in the system of science.
  • 3. National and international strategic, conceptual and legislative documents governing the status of disabled people in the society.
  • 4. Special education classification, etiology and symptomatology of disability, new approaches to the WHO classification.
  • 5. Comparison of concepts of special education in the Czech Republic and abroad.
  • 6. Aspects of special education intervention for disabled people across all age categories.
  • 7. Importance of early intervention and specific psychomotor development of disabled children.
  • 8. Coordinated rehabilitation goals, components and their characteristics, aspects of inter-agency cooperation.
  • 9. Pedagogical rehabilitation goals, resources.
  • 10. Specifics socialization of disabled people in adulthood.
  • 11. Special pedagogue - professional competence.
  • 12. Examples of good practice - in the Czech Republic and in the world. Revision of the curriculum.

Teacher's information
Personal contact in teaching, consulting hours. During continuous study, the student uses the study support and processes selected correspondence tasks. Here he will also demonstrate knowledge of compulsory literature and contact teaching lectures. The student will be able to continuously consult individually studied topics of the subject through e-mail, individual or group consultations.
