Course objectives
Basic knowledge of lexicological disciplines. Subject lexicology, lexicology position in the science system, auxiliary and temporary discipline. Basic concepts - word lexeme. Meaning of lexical units. Vocabulary - its structure, the layers of vocabulary

Teacher's information
system in the vocabulary, changes in vocabulary. Terminology. Historical approach to vocabulary, etymology. Relations lexical units - paradigmatic and syntagmatic relations. Proper names, onomastics basics. Multi-word lexical units - multi-word names, phrases and idioms. Lexicography, the principles of compiling dictionaries, types of dictionaries.
