Course objectives
The course offers an overview of basic linguistic terms and definitions. The language is understood as a system of signs and is described on individual levels: Phonetics, Phonology, Morphology, Syntax, Semantics etc. Each linguistic discipline is introduced. German as a Germanic language will be introduced within the classification of languages. Finally, the most important branches of linguistics will be surveyed.
