- Course objectives
- The course covers the period of English literature from the beginnings till Romanticism. It focuses on classic texts of English literature, such as The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer, and the development of Elizabethan poetry and drama. The main stress is on the poetic and dramatic output of William Shakespeare in the context of literature of English Renaissance. Last but not least, the course will deal with the development of satire and the origins of the novel.
