Course objectives
The course is user-oriented on using Internet services and computer networks with an emphasis on basic security. Students will learn to describes the possibility of sharing information on cloud storage and social networks, real-time team collaboration, etc. Part of the course is oriented on practical and theoretical knowledge on the basic configurations and principles of communications in computer networks and their management.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student will be able to: - get basic knowledge of the problems of computer networks; - describe the functioning of the computer network and communication protocols; - basic administration and configuration of network devices (router, switch, etc.); - working with the cloud file hosting, social and teamwork services;
Syllabus
  • 1. Networks topology;
    2. Firewall, TCPIP, DNS, DHCP;
    3. Networks devices - classification and function;
    4. Networks technology: ethernet, rooting, NAT, Reference model OSI, VPN, HTTPS, WiFi;
    5. Symmetric and asymmetric encryption (public-key cryptography);
    6. Voice over Internet Protocol, teleconference, operation with file-sharing services
