- Course objectives
- The course objective is to understand the work of a social worker who, in the context of social services, uses their competences on persons with different types and degrees of disability. The course will focus not only on principles and theory of social work, but also on the concretization of social work in exemplative instruction and in facilities of the social service type, and on their characteristics.
- Learning outcomes
- Professional knowledge:
- students demonstrate knowledge of basic notions and theoretical concepts of social services within the responsibility of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic
- students know the key underlying principles and theories relating to social work
- students describe social services within a single facility
- students know the context relevant for the issues of implementing social work with disabled people under the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs
- students are familiar with the categorization of social work and social services
Professional skills:
- students can independently locate, critically evaluate and objectively sort out facts regarding social services of the Czech Republic
- students can assess the needs and requirements for the care of disabled people from the social point of view
- students can independently analyze social services within individual facilities
General qualification:
- students can independently discuss the burning issues of at least the basics of the contemporary discipline of social work which is especially relevant in the context of special pedagogy
- students know the theoretical basis of selected social work and can apply them in practice - Syllabus
- 1. Social services for individuals with health disabilities. Basic types and forms of social services.
- 2. Role and personality of social workers. Dilemmas of social work - e.g. support and social control. Theory of social work (psychodynamic, humanistic, critical, communication models, cognitive-behavioural, task-oriented, feminist, anti-oppressive, ecological).
- 3. Supervision in social work.
- 4. Daily service accessibility centres, day care centres, week care centres.
- 5. Homes for disabled people, special regimen homes.
- 6. Sheltered accommodation, social therapeutic workshops, social rehabilitation centres.
- 7. Early care workplaces.
- 8. Methods of social work with individuals with mental disabilities.
- 9. Methods of social work with individuals with physical disabilities.
- 10. Methods of social work with individuals with hearing impairment.
- 11. Methods of social work with individuals with visual impairments.
- 12. Methods of social work with individuals with ASD.
