Course objectives
The course objective is to provide knowledge of basic physiological and pathological manifestations on the skin and, especially on the mucosa of the oral cavity, which will allow safe mastery of the profession of dental hygienist.
Learning outcomes
Professional Knowledge: Students can describe the causes and symptoms of selected diseases and pathologies of the oral cavity.
Professional Skills: Students can recognize the pathologies of the oral cavity in selected diseases and provide nursing care based on the physician's office.
General Qualification: Students can provide adequate nursing care for selected diseases of the oral cavity.
Competences: Students know the anatomy and physiology of the skin and mucosa of the oral cavity. They know the pathology of manifestations on the skin and mucosa of the oral cavity. They acquire basic differential diagnostics of skin diseases accompanied by manifestations on the mucosa of the oral cavity. They know the fundamentals of examination and therapy of diseases of the skin and mucosa of the oral cavity.
Syllabus
  • 1. Anatomy and physiology of the skin and mucosa of the oral cavity.
  • 2. Examination methods of diseases of the skin and mucosa of the oral cavity.
  • 3. Basic efflorescence on the skin and mucosa of the oral cavity.
  • 4. Diseases from mechanical causes. Diseases from thermal causes.
  • 5. Damage caused by chemical pollutants. Damage from actinic causes.
  • 6. Syphilis and oral cavity. Manifestations of HIV infection on the head.
  • 7. Allergic and toxic reactions.
  • 8. Tumors on the mucosa of the oral cavity.
  • 9. Manifestations of skin diseases on the mucosaof the oral cavity.
  • 10. Primary stomatitis.
  • 11. White areas on the mucosa of the oral cavity.
  • 12. Blisters on the mucosa of the oral cavity. Erosions and ulcers on the mucosa of the oral cavity.
  • 13. Bacterial infection on the mucosa of the oral cavity.
  • 14. Viral infections on the mucosa of the oral cavity.
  • 15. Mycotic infections on the mucosa of the oral cavity.
  • 16. Manifestations of systemic diseases on the mucosa of the cavity .

Credit requirements: 80% attendance at the training (students who could not attend compulsory instruction for serious reasons will be assigned an alternative way of fulfilling their study requirements).
