Course objectives
The aim of the course is to prepare students for the specifics of education and training of students with autism spectrum disorder, to create conditions for their education, to acquaint students with new trends in the education of students with autism spectrum disorder. Students will fully master the issue of education and training of students with autism spectrum disorder. The student will be able to characterize autism, describe individual disorders of the autistic spectrum will be acquainted with the creation of special teaching aids, will be able to characterize the method of structured learning.
Learning outcomes
Expertise:
- student is able to characterize autism, describe individual disorders of the autism spectrum
- the student knows the legislation concerning school issues of education of pupils with autism spectrum disorder, especially Decree 27/2016 Coll. in relation to support measures
- the student is able to describe the system of counseling services for students with autism spectrum disorder
- the student will be familiar with etiology and diagnostics
Professional skills:
- the student is able to define the special educational needs of students with autism spectrum disorder in relation to the creation of an individual educational plan
- the student is able to apply special methods and forms of work to students with autism spectrum disorder
- the student is able to use the acquired theoretical knowledge in teaching students with autism spectrum disorder
- The student is to use special methods and procedures that lead to   equipping the student with key competencies
General competences:
- the student is able to use the acquired theoretical knowledge in the education of pupils with autism spectrum disorder
- the student is able to independently create and apply special teaching aids
- the student is able to independently apply the method of structured learning in the teaching of pupils with autism spectrum disorder with regard to the individual possibilities of individual pupils

Assessment methods
Preparation, implementation and presentation containing records of preparation for direct work with pupils with autism spectrum disorder focused on the application and practical application of intervention strategies of pupils with self - evaluation. Submission of the portfolio and its presentation is a condition for registration for the didactic test. The didactic test consists of open-ended questions, which are based on the questions and tasks listed in the study materials for the subject. The didactic test is focused on the theoretical knowledge of key concepts related to the education of students with autism spectrum disorder, as well as the ability to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge in pedagogical practice.

Teacher's information
In course of continuous study, students use the study material, processing it to fulfil selected correspondence assignments which will be discussed in conclusion of the course. At the exam, students demonstrate knowledge of compulsory literature and lectures of the in-person instruction. Students will be able to continuously consult the topics studied individually or in teams, via e-mail, or in consultations upon request.
